Your data, simply explained

We built Play Scripture to work without accounts or profiles. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you stay in control.

Last updated: November 22, 2024

What we collect

  • Game progress (scores, streaks, achievements) stored locally on your device.
  • Basic, aggregated product analytics from Vercel Analytics (e.g., page views, device type).
  • Donation details are handled by Stripe; we do not see your payment card information.

How we use it

  • To run the app locally and remember your streaks and achievements.
  • To understand overall feature usage and improve the experience.
  • To process donations securely through Stripe’s hosted checkout.

Data storage and control

  • Your reading and gameplay data lives on your device (browser storage/app data). We do not sync it to our servers.
  • You can clear this data anytime by clearing app storage or local browser data for Play Scripture.
  • If you reinstall the app or clear storage, your progress resets.

Third-party services

  • Vercel Analytics: collects anonymized product analytics (no scripture answers or personal notes).
  • Stripe: processes donations on their hosted checkout page; Stripe’s privacy practices apply there.

Children’s privacy

Play Scripture is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Questions or requests

If you have privacy questions or want to request data changes, contact us at the support email listed in the app store or through our project channels. We’ll respond as quickly as we can.

Play Scripture is a companion to the Read Scripture app/plan. We are not affiliated with Read Scripture or The Bible Project, but we love their work!
